Fiberglass-reinforced plastics are known from wind turbine blades and boats.
Fiberglass is primarily used in hardenable plastics such as epoxy and unsaturated polyester. Fiberglass reinforced plastic is used, among other things. for a large number of larger products where the requirement is high mechanical strength and durability combined with low weight. Many include: milling blades, boats, surfboards, building components, car parts, tanks, and pipes for the chemical industry.

There are several different processing methods, the most common being hand laying and spray laying. Hand laying is the simplest method of processing. A form of, for example, wood, polyester or concrete is lined with fiberglass mats which are then manually applied to polyester or epoxy added hardener. This is repeated until the desired material thickness is achieved.
